Breastfeeding

I have had a wonderful journey and experience breastfeeding my now 10 month old daughter Tayla. We had some challenges and though i have other kids each experience is different. Sometimes i was frustrated because my baby didn’t always latch. Other times she was the best nurser and baby i could ask for. I breastfed for almost 10 months before my baby girl Tayla decided to wean herself only to formula. She has come so far she walking around things and she says momma dadda, hi, yeah, and other words. She grasps so much with her fingers and hands. She eats table food well. Im so proud of her. I loved our time when she was nursing she would want me when she was hungry and it was me and her only during feeding time unless her 4 year old brother came to play with her. She bit me hard once that almost made me stop nursing and did draw some blood. I learned from that experience she may have been distracted or i was distracted thats why she bit me. I learned to watch her cues better. It never happened again. She is such a delightful baby. I was lucky to have a breastfeeding consultant the whole journey and going to miss our talks. Thank you everyone who helped Tayla and I with our journey. Remember mommas you are all doing great and some days are better than others. Its ok to ask for help and its ok to take breaks. Be good to yourselves.

  • Holly, thank you for sharing about your breastfeeding experience!!
And thank you for always reaching out if you had questions or concerns, which I so appreciated, like, "What do I do if my baby doesn't have a good latch or bites me?"  It's the heart of why this program exists.  I never want a momma I work with to be struggling by herself and feel like she's failing.  I am here to help figure out what may be going on, and if I can't, I will connect you with someone who can.  Breastfeeding should be an enjoyable journey, and you should feel empowered as you do it!
(And yes, ask for help.  Every question is important and babies don't come with a manual. 😉)
My best to you and your little lady, Holly. 🩷

  • LOVE what you said about asking for help and taking a break! This was something I was too afraid to do with my first.

Awesome job breastfeeding your daughter! She definitely has an amazing mom!
