One Mom's Experiences

From Minnie:
"So I have brest fed all 4 of my kids! The shortest was 2 months and the longest has been 8 months! I also had 2 of my babies in the nicu! Let me tell you trying to understand how to get them to latch on with the nipple shield was not easy! But I managed and at 7 months she just wanted to take the bottle and be done with the boob! My youngest was born on June 11th and didnt start eating right away! So he was in the nicu with breast milk and formula! We eventually got him off of formula before he left the nicu which was awesome! He last weighed at 16lbs! And hes only 5 months! I gave been an over supplier since my daughter which was in the nicu and had to deal with it now! My son is very picky on how he lays when eating as the front hold is the only way he'll let me feed him! Or sitting up! Im still going strong with him switching between bottle and breast. It seems a lot in the moment but it dose get better in the end! I can promise yall that! I am open to any questions and I will answer when I can!"

It has been a pleasure watching you grow your family over the years, Minnie! I remember seeing you in the WIC office when you were pregnant with your first baby and supporting you virtually with your following pregnancies/babies.
You have overcame a lot with each of your babies to provide breastmilk for them, and I am SO proud of your most recent efforts to pump at work, despite the barriers. Way to be a breastfeeding warrior, momma! Keep up the amazing job.

  • Way to overcome the challenges that came your way, Minnie! Thank you for sharing your story.
