Bonding and Support Systems

Hi, I'm 24 years old. I have 2 daughters and this is my first time breastfeeding with my 2nd child. It's been quite a journey but it's definitely helped me bond more with my baby. It does get to be a lot sometimes especially when it feels like you're not producing enough or like you don't get any time to yourself anymore as your baby wants you all the time but I promise if you have the right support system, even if it's just one person, it does make a difference when they're comforting you and telling you you're doing the best you can. It's easy to get overwhelmed and overstimulated when breastfeeding. When that happens for me I tell myself that it's going by so fast and before I know it, my baby won't need me as much which makes me appreciate it a lot more as I can continue to bond with my baby before she decides to not want to breastfeed anymore or when I decide to wean her off. I have also struggled with feeling like I'm not producing enough which has resulted in supplementing with formula, which is NOT a bad thing so don't let anyone tell you different. A fed baby is a happy baby! It's been 5 almost 6 months of breastfeeding for me and even though I did have my days where I struggled, it overall has been a learning experience and helped me get closer with my baby. I hope every person who is breastfeeding knows that they aren't alone on days where they struggle because there is someone out there willing to help. ~Markki

There is a lot of pressure around providing breastmilk, and I'm so glad you have found what works for you and your baby, plus a support system encouraging you on! ANY amount is beneficial.
I love that you are getting to experience the bond that occurs with breastfeeding; I can tell that is important to you. Keep up the great work, Markki!
