Protection from Illness

Will my breast milk keep my baby from getting sick?

Your breast milk will help keep your baby healthy. You and your baby are exposed to germs in your environment. When your baby latches to your breast, your immune system responds to your baby’s saliva. Your body produces antibodies to fight those germs. These antibodies also pass to your baby through your breast milk. They help protect your baby from illness.
