Breast Implants

Can I still breastfeed with breast implants?

Even with breast implants, you may still be able to breastfeed your baby. Knowing the details of your surgery will be helpful in preparing to breastfeed. The main concern is damage done to breast tissue during surgery and implantation

Your body works hard to repair the damage to your breasts around your milk ducts. Breastfeeding is most likely to succeed if your implants are below your muscle. If your nipples are kept intact, this helps with breastfeeding. Even if you can't provide all the breastmilk your baby needs, you will likely be able to provide some. Any amount of breastmilk is helpful! Talk with a Certified Lactation Consultant to get support and information. They can help to make sure your baby is getting enough breastmilk.
