Menstrual Cycle is Back

My baby is fussy during my menstrual cycle and wants to breastfeed more. Is this normal?

The makeup of your breastmilk and the amount of milk you produce can vary during your menstrual cycle. They may get frustrated if your milk doesn't come as fast as it usually does.

You can ask your doctor about using a supplement of calcium and magnesium during part of your cycle to help if you are producing less milk.

You can also try breast compressions and massage to get your milk flowing. Your baby may want to breastfeed more often. This will help to increase your supply too.

Thankfully, this dip in your milk supply is temporary and should return to normal.
