Meet Amber - Peer Counselor

Hello!

My name is Amber! I joined the peer counselor program because I’m passionate about supporting fellow breastfeeding mothers and sharing my love for breastfeeding. I breastfed for just over four years, wrapping up my journey in mid-2025. My knowledge comes from a variety of sources, including attending breastfeeding support groups with other moms and lactation consultants. I’ve been a peer counselor since June 2022, and I truly love every moment of it!

One of my proudest accomplishments is serving 10 years in the United States Army as a Military Police Soldier. I left the service in 2016 as a Staff Sergeant after spending six months working at the Pentagon as an Executive Assistant. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration in 2023 and completed my Master of Public Administration in Human Resource Management at the end of 2024.

Outside of my work, I’m passionate about reading and spending time outdoors with my daughter. I’ve always loved sports, especially volleyball, which I played both in high school and during my time in the military. These days, I enjoy hiking, jogging, sightseeing, anything that gets me outside!

And of course, I LOVE breastfeeding. I proudly nursed my daughter wherever she needs, whether we’re at the park, the grocery store, the WIC office, daycare, or even at my sister’s wedding. Supporting a woman's right to breastfeed in public is incredibly important to me, and I led by example.

I'm excited to support you on your breastfeeding journey!
