Hello there!
I’m Carolyn Bakker, one of the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors helping in the Sioux Falls area. As Peer Counselors, we will help with your needs and support you through your breastfeeding journey. It truly is a pleasure to be helping you.
Aside from the training provided by WIC, I also have personal experience breastfeeding. I have exclusively breastfed my baby girl, Jupiter. I also understand the stresses and anxieties that can come to new moms who choose to breastfeed, and I want to help overcome those barriers.
If you wish to learn more about me, my favorite thing in the whole wide world is my little girl Jupiter. Aside from my lovely daughter, I also have a few other loves. I love everything outdoors, all except bugs. The beautiful summer sun rises and warm breezes. The smell of dirt on a rainy day. The piercing cold of February nights. And lastly, food! None of us can live without food.
I love the idea of being able to help others with the beautiful role of being a mother. It’s the most rewarding yet challenging job out there. It takes not only a village to help a baby, but the mother as well. The WIC staff and I hope to help you to the best of our ability and promise to put our heart and best intentions into every word.
