Meet Jaime - Peer Counselor

Hi, I'm Jaime!

I am the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for Aurora, Bon Homme, Clay, Davison, Douglas, Hanson, Hutchinson, Lincoln, McCook, Roberts, Turner, Union, and Yankton counties.

It is a privilege to be involved in the Peer Counseling program. Helping support other moms during their breastfeeding journey is very rewarding for me. I am very passionate about breastfeeding now, but I do not think I would have been as successful or met my personal breastfeeding goals without the support I received from family and friends.

I have five children and was blessed to be able to breastfeed them all. Each baby and experience was different, but all so rewarding. I breastfed anywhere between 16 months and three years. I would have never considered breastfeeding a toddler if it wasn't for the education and training I received as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.

Along with my personal breastfeeding experience, I have attended breastfeeding training and conferences in preparation to counsel other moms throughout pregnancy and their breastfeeding experience.

I have worked as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for over 8 years. I have watched the program expand and change over that time and become what it is today. The program's design is to come alongside moms and support and encourage them to reach their breastfeeding goals.

My husband and I are raising our five children. I have homeschooled them all since preschool. I also love to exercise, especially if it is outdoors. I like hunting with my family, painting, and singing. I am a member of our church's worship team and enjoy singing on Sunday mornings with them. Faith in God is an integral part of who I am. Bible studies and prayer groups are incorporated into my daily life as well.
